About

Life is about learning and I strive to be always learning. Here I share some of the things I have learned along the way. What have you learned? Share your thoughts in the comments. The picture is our family in early 2016. Need to update it already (Kenzie and Amelia!); hopefully this Christmas.

My interests lie in several areas. I love my family and enjoy spending time with them, and like seeing them grow into the wonderful people they are and continue to become. My wife, Melanie, keeps me busy with lots of tasks on our little five-acre farm, and her huge gardens. At work, I am passionate about good learning design, especially online experiences. I enjoy building effective, relevant, engaging, and concise elearning. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, studying, teaching, and writing, mostly on Biblical and latter-day scriptures. I teach a monthly adult class in Monroe, WA, and have other opportunities like BYU Education Week or Sperry Symposiums to reach a broader audience. I like history, languages, places, and culture. I have had many opportunities to travel in my life and appreciate the places I have seen and the people I have met all around the world. I have played a lot of sports but am less engaged in that now than in the past, but still like a good softball or volleyball game, when I can find one.
